Hear, my son, and be wise,
and direct your heart in the way.

Proverbs 23:19 ESV

Hear.

Listen.

Pay attention.

Focus.

Only one thing matters.

Everything else is secondary, at best.

Why do you not draw near to listen?

Why do you not set your mind on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father?

You look for joy and life in things that cannot satisfy, broken cisterns that cannot retain water.

Look to Christ.

Hear His Word.

Ponder His Wisdom in your heart.

Direct your heart instead of following it. Lead it in the way that it should go. From it flow the streams of life, so guard it. Keep it from roaming into the wilderness of sin.

Christ alone is the way, the truth, and the life.

Set you eyes upon Him.

Listen to His Word above all else.

Let Him be the delight of your soul, both now and forevermore.
